In 1964 he started the Rollerson Singers, giving concerts for charity and raising thousands of pounds over the years. One performance sticks in my memory. We were singing Bach's St. Matthew's Passion at the Congregational Church and all had been well until the last chorus.
As we drew breath to sing, there was a loud bang and the organ went dead - the poor organist looked very dismayed! Brian lifted up his baton, we sang the last chorus unaccompanied - he was very proud of us.
