I was pregnant with Gordon when we moved into our new house, where we stayed for five years. During our time at Helsby, Brian was asked to be Chorus Master of the Ellesmere Port Choral Society. He conducted the choir and orchestra at their concerts. He was also roped-in to accompany various singers and instrumentalists at recitals in the area.
We had the good fortune to live next door to a smashing girl called Ann. She and Andrew became great friends and played together a lot. On the other side was a couple with a boy called Stephen, also a playmate for Andrew - being the same age. Andrew will remember the pranks they got up to, of which us poor parents were ignorant at the time!
There developed a very warm relationship between ourselves and the Chadwicks, which lasted till, sadly, they both died. We even bought a lawn-mower between us!
